HELP CENTER
Below, you will find answers to some of the questions we recieve most frequently. If you cannot find the answer here, contact us! We’re excited to answer any questions you have!
How long do therapy sessions last?
Most sessions are conducted within a 45-minute “therapy hours”. However, sessions can be extended depending on the needs of the patient.
What can I expect during my first session?
During your first session, we aim to gain a thorough understanding of your presenting problems and any relevant personal history that may be contributing to these difficulties. Having an comprehensive understanding of these elements allows the therapist to provide the most effective treatment. The therapist will ask a wide range of questions and may ask you to complete questionnaires. The first therapy session gives you an opportunity to express what goals you would like to achieve by coming to therapy. In addition, the therapist will answer any questions you may have about therapy. There are also a number of consent forms to be read and completed during the first session to ensure that you have been made aware of what treatment involves and understand our privacy and confidentiality policies.
What is confidentiality?
Confidentiality is the privileged information between client and counselor. Generally speaking, what you say in counseling is strictly confidential. Confidentiality is only broken in specific circumstances, such as if you threaten to hurt yourself or others and there’s reason to believe those threats will be acted upon, suspected elder abuse or child abuse, or if records are subpoenaed by a judge.
How often do I see my therapist?
Typically, patients are seen either weekly or biweekly.
Who do I contact in the event of an emergency or mental health crisis?
In the event of a medical or mental health emergency, Neurocove Behavioral Health strongly encourages you to contact 911 or to present to the nearest emergency department immediately. If you are having thoughts of suicide or of hurting yourself, you may also contact the Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-8255. Does insurance cover psychological assessment?

WHAT IS TELEHEALTH OR TELETHERAPY?
Telehealth, Teletherapy, or TeleMentalHealth, is the online delivery of mental health therapy services via high-resolution, live video conferencing. Teletherapy sessions are very similar to traditional mental health sessions with one major exception. Instead of sitting in the same physical space, patients and therapists interact via live video conferencing.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF TELEHEALTH?
Teletherapy is an innovative, cost-effective solution that offers maximum flexibility by overcoming barriers of distance, unavailability of specialists, and impaired mobility. Teletherapy has also been empirically validated as a treatment modality. This means it can be just as effective as traditional face-to-face appointments.
DO YOU OFFER SLIDING SCALE RATES?
Yes. Self-pay patient responsibility is calculated on a sliding-fee scale based on income and family size. Fees currently range from $130-150 per session. Neurocove Behavioral Health, LLC is a fee-for-service practice. Those looking for discounted services may not be a good match for our practice.
WHAT IS YOUR NO-SHOW/LATE CANCELLATION POLICY?
Therapy and assessment take considerable preparation. When you make an appointment, you are reserving our time to work towards your goal. Cancellations within 24 hours are subject to the full session fee or deposit, as agreed to during the informed consent process.
